We’ve been travelling Australia in our 2020 VX Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series, and it has more than lived up to our expectations. Purchased brand new in 2020, this vehicle has been a powerhouse on and off the bitumen, effortlessly towing our big Evernew caravan and tackling everything from sandy tracks to corrugated Outback roads.

Before hitting the road, we had several modifications done to ensure it was fully equipped for long-distance touring and remote travel. These include:

• Lovells GVM upgrade and BTC (Braked Towing Capacity) upgrade for extra payload and towing ability.

• Bullbar for added protection on remote roads.

• Spotlights for improved visibility during night driving.

• Auxiliary battery to power accessories when we’re off-grid.

• UHF radio for reliable communication in remote areas.

• Bridgestone Duellers for dependable grip and durability across all terrains.

• Fourby Fitout luggage compartment with a fridge slide and storage drawer for organised, easy-access touring gear.

This setup has made the LandCruiser not just a tow vehicle, but a comfortable, capable, and self-sufficient touring partner. It’s given us the confidence to explore some of the most remote and picturesque parts of Australia, knowing we have the right gear to get us there — and back — safely.
